KABUL, Oct. 7 (Xinhua) -- Afghan security forces have dismantled two clandestine heroin-processing laboratories and confiscated substantial quantities of illicit drugs in two provinces, the ministry of interior affairs announced in separate statements on Wednesday.
Counter-narcotics units conducted targeted raids on the outskirts of Chora and Chinarto districts in southern Uruzgan province, destroying the facilities and recovering nearly 3,000 kg of precursor substances used in heroin production, the ministry reported.
In a concurrent operation, security personnel seized 329 kg of illicit narcotics and apprehended a suspected trafficker in Tashkan district, northern Badakhshan province.
Afghan authorities have intensified a nationwide campaign against the narcotics trade, systematically targeting traffickers, cultivators, and production networks as part of broader efforts to dismantle the country's illicit drug economy. ■
