TOKYO, Oct. 7 (Xinhua) -- Japan's real wages in August rose 1.5 percent from a year earlier, marking the eighth consecutive month of gains but slowing from July's revised 2.0 percent increase, government data showed Wednesday.
Nominal wages per worker, or total cash earnings, rose 3.8 percent to 311,364 yen (about 1,970 U.S. dollars), slowing from a revised 4.3 percent increase in July, according to the Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare.
The consumer price index used by the ministry to calculate real wages rose 2.2 percent in August from a year earlier, slowing from 3.1 percent a year earlier and helping real wages remain in positive territory. ■
