DHAKA, Oct. 4 (Xinhua) -- The inflow of remittances from millions of Bangladeshis living and working abroad grew by 13.3 percent year-on-year to 8.59 billion U.S. dollars in the first quarter (July-September) of the 2026-27 fiscal year, the latest data showed on Sunday.
Figures from Bangladesh Bank also showed an inflow of 2.77 billion dollars in September 2026, up from 2.69 billion dollars in September 2025.
According to the data, remittances, a key source of foreign exchange for the South Asian nation, increased by 22.5 percent year-on-year to 2.97 billion dollars in August.
In the 2025-26 fiscal year, remittances from some 10 million Bangladeshis living and working in more than 100 countries and regions amounted to 35.56 billion dollars.
Remittances come mainly from Middle Eastern countries, such as the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia and Kuwait. ■
