KABUL, Oct. 4 (Xinhua) -- Counter-narcotics police have destroyed 106 acres of hashish crops across northern Afghanistan's Takhar province, the official Radio and Television of Afghanistan (RTA) reported late Saturday.
The eradication operations targeted cultivation sites on the outskirts of Rustaq, Baharak, Ishkamish, Farkhar and Kalafgan districts, as well as areas surrounding the provincial capital, Taluqan, according to provincial police spokesman Naqibullah Masroor, who was quoted by RTA.
Officials described the campaign as part of sustained efforts to eliminate illicit crop production in the region, stressing that operations will continue until Takhar is cleared of the drug threat. ■
