KABUL, Oct. 3 (Xinhua) -- Police seized 65 kg of opium-type drugs and detained two suspected drug traffickers in western Afghanistan's Herat province on Friday, provincial police spokesman Sayed Masoud Hussaini said.
The narcotics were concealed in the cavities of a car, the official said, adding that the two suspected drug traffickers were attempting to transport the contraband to southern Kandahar province when highway police discovered it during a vehicle inspection and arrested the two individuals.
Both suspects were handed over to the judiciary after the completion of a preliminary investigation, the official said.
In a similar operation earlier, police discovered 38 kg of opium in a car in northern Kunduz province and detained three suspected drug smugglers on Thursday. ■
