JAKARTA, Oct. 1 (Xinhua) -- Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto on Thursday appointed senior diplomat Arrmanatha Nasir as the country's new minister of foreign affairs in a cabinet reshuffle.
Nasir, who previously served as the deputy foreign minister and held several senior diplomatic posts, including Indonesia's permanent representative to the United Nations, replaces outgoing Foreign Minister Sugiono.
The appointment came after Prabowo submitted a letter to parliament on Sept. 30 proposing the change.
Following the reshuffle, Sugiono was appointed as coordinating minister for human development and culture.
The president also appointed Suyudi Ario Seto, formerly head of the National Narcotics Agency, as the new National Police chief on Thursday. ■
