Pakistan's headline inflation eases to 10.3 pct in September

ISLAMABAD, Oct. 1 (Xinhua) -- Pakistan's headline inflation fell to 10.3 percent year on year in September, down from 11.1 percent in August, according to data released by the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS) on Thursday.

The consumer price index (CPI)-based inflation stood at 5.8 percent in September 2025, PBS data showed.

On a month-on-month basis, inflation increased by 1.3 percent in September, compared with an increase of 1.2 percent in August and 2.1 percent in September 2025.

Urban inflation rose 10.1 percent year on year in September, compared with 10.4 percent in August and 5.7 percent in September 2025.

On a month-on-month basis, urban CPI inflation increased by 1.3 percent in September, compared with an increase of 0.9 percent in August and 1.6 percent in September 2025.

Rural inflation increased 10.5 percent year on year in September, compared with 12.2 percent in August and 5.9 percent in September 2025.

On a month-on-month basis, rural CPI inflation rose 1.2 percent in September, compared with an increase of 1.6 percent in August and 2.8 percent in September 2025.

During the first quarter of fiscal year 2026-27, CPI inflation averaged 10.2 percent, compared with 4.3 percent in the same period of the previous fiscal year. ■
