KUALA LUMPUR, Sept. 29 (Xinhua) -- Malaysia had 23 commodities with self-sufficiency ratios (SSR) above 100 percent in 2025, indicating that domestic production was sufficient to meet local demand, the Department of Statistics Malaysia (DOSM) said on Tuesday.
Among selected fruits, papaya had the highest SSR at 132.3 percent. For selected vegetables, French beans recorded the highest SSR at 114.3 percent, followed by tomatoes at 109.4 percent.
Among selected livestock commodities, duck meat had the highest SSR at 127.1 percent, while chicken eggs recorded an SSR of 108.6 percent.
Meanwhile, mutton, beef and ginger were among the commodities with a high degree of import dependency, the DOSM said. ■
