JAKARTA, Sept. 28 (Xinhua) -- Indonesian search and rescue teams on Monday recovered five more bodies from a ship that capsized and sank in the Java Sea off South Kalimantan province, bringing the death toll to 71, the National Search and Rescue Agency (Basarnas) said.
The bodies have been taken to Banjarmasin, the provincial capital, for identification and further handling.
Basarnas said search operations are continuing for 64 people who remain missing, while 108 people have been rescued alive.
The Virgo Transport 8 was carrying 243 people, including 30 crew members, from Surabaya in East Java province to Banjarmasin when it capsized in bad weather on Sept. 13, about 80 nautical miles from its destination, according to the ship's manifest. ■
