ISLAMABAD, Sept. 27 (Xinhua) -- At least eight militants were killed in a clash with a pro-government tribal militia in Pakistan's southwest Balochistan province on Saturday, police said.
The clash occurred in the Loti area of Dera Bugti district after armed men attacked the residence of district council chairman Ghulam Nabi Shambani and a gas company camp with heavy weapons, including rockets, according to police and local media reports.
Members of the Bugti Peace Force returned fire, triggering an exchange that lasted more than an hour. Eight attackers were killed, and seven others were arrested, police said. One peace force member was killed and three others were injured.
No group has claimed responsibility for the attack, police said. ■
