YANGON, Sept. 25 (Xinhua) -- Chinese electric vehicles (EVs) are gaining ground in Myanmar as consumers show growing interest in smart features and competitive prices, while cooperation between Chinese manufacturers and local businesses is expanding into localized production and after-sales service.

At the Myanmar Auto and Parts Expo 2026, Chinese EV models have stood out among exhibited vehicles and drawn wide attention from local visitors and industry insiders.

"Local consumers are increasingly favoring updated EV models equipped with practical intelligent functions including voice control and Apple CarPlay," said Ko Wai Phyo, a sales executive at Swann Thu Aung Co., Ltd., an EV distributor in Myanmar.

Chinese EV brands have long been good at adapting product configurations to local consumer demands and using highly competitive pricing strategies, U Ko Ko Aung, an automobile industry analyst, said. He noted these are key factors driving their continuous sales growth and rising market share across Myanmar.

"As a close neighboring country, China boasts unique geographical and trade advantages in bilateral automotive cooperation. The market share of Chinese vehicles in Myanmar is poised to keep expanding steadily," the analyst predicted.

Beyond product competitiveness, in-depth industrial integration between Chinese automotive enterprises and local Myanmar businesses has become a new highlight of bilateral cooperation. Localized manufacturing and comprehensive after-sales service systems are taking shape rapidly, injecting new vitality into Myanmar's automotive industry.

U Kyaw Kyaw Aung, chairman of the Myanmar Automobile Manufacturer and Distributor Association, said local businesses are working with Chinese partners to establish factories and carry out vehicle assembly, while Chinese brands are also strengthening dealer oversight covering after-sales service, spare parts and quality control.

The second Myanmar Auto and Parts Expo brings together 52 companies and six associations from seven countries. Covering about 5,000 square meters, the three-day event features EVs, conventional vehicles, charging equipment, spare parts and automotive repair equipment. ■
