JAKARTA, Sept. 23 (Xinhua) -- Bank Indonesia kept its benchmark interest rate unchanged at 5.75 percent on Wednesday to maintain stability while supporting economic growth, the bank's governor Destry Damayanti said at a press conference.
The decision, made at the central bank's Board of Governors Meeting from Tuesday to Wednesday, also kept the deposit facility rate at 4.75 percent and the lending facility rate at 6.5 percent.
"This decision remains consistent with the strategy to stabilize the rupiah exchange rate amid continued strong external pressures, support the achievement of the inflation target of 2.5 percent plus or minus 1 percent in 2026 and 2027, and promote sustainable economic growth," Destry said.
The central bank projects Indonesia's economic growth at between 4.9 percent and 5.7 percent in 2026, while macroprudential and payment system policies will continue to support sustainable economic growth. ■
