ISLAMABAD, Sept. 23 (Xinhua) -- At least 16 terrorists were killed in separate security forces operations in Pakistan's southwestern Balochistan province, security officials said on Wednesday.
According to the security officials, nine terrorists were killed after they attempted to attack a security forces' checkpost in Mastung district of the province.
During the heavy exchange of fire, a soldier was also injured, said the officials, adding that heavy weapons, ammunition and three motorcycles were also recovered from the site.
Operations will continue until the threat is eliminated, security officials said.
Meanwhile, Balochistan police killed five terrorists in an exchange of fire after terrorists attempted to attack a police station in the Aghbarg area on the outskirts of Quetta, according to local police officials.
Police said the terrorists attacked the police station in the early hours of Wednesday, prompting police personnel deployed at the station to return fire.
In Turbat, two terrorists were also killed by the security forces during an intelligence-based operation. ■
