KABUL, Sept. 19 (Xinhua) -- Afghan counter-narcotics police have seized 543 kg of illicit drugs and arrested nine suspected traffickers in coordinated operations across northern Takhar province, the Ministry of Interior Affairs said in a statement on Saturday.
The smugglers concealed 420 kg of opium in hidden compartments of an ambulance, the statement said, adding that 123 kg of opium and hashish were seized from two vehicles in the province's Rustaq district.
All nine suspects have been detained, it added. ■
