KATHMANDU, Sept. 19 (Xinhua) -- Foreign direct investment (FDI) commitments to Nepal decreased significantly in the first two months of the current 2026-27 fiscal year compared with the same period of the previous fiscal year, according to a report released by the Department of Industry on Friday.
Nepal received FDI commitments worth 11.12 billion Nepali rupees between mid-July and mid-September, down from 33.92 billion rupees during the corresponding period of the previous fiscal year, the department said.
The commitments were made for 328 projects, which are expected to create 3,447 jobs.
The tourism sector received the largest FDI commitment by value, totaling 3.7 billion rupees, while the information and communication technology sector, with 212 projects, accounted for the highest number of projects. (1 Nepali rupee equals 0.0065 U.S. dollars) ■
