TASHKENT, Sept. 19 (Xinhua) -- A project to upgrade a key section of the A380 highway in Uzbekistan, undertaken by China Railway 20th Bureau Group Corporation Limited, was officially launched on Friday.
Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev expressed his wishes for the smooth implementation of the project while addressing the groundbreaking ceremony via video link.
The highway serves as a vital transportation artery in Uzbekistan. The project covers the 581-673 km section of the highway, which will be widened and upgraded from an aging two-lane road to improve traffic capacity and safety standards.
According to the contractor, the project is scheduled for completion and opening to traffic in 2029. ■
