SYDNEY, Sept. 18 (Xinhua) -- A swimmer is missing after a suspected shark attack at a beach in Western Australia (WA) on Friday morning.
Emergency services were called to reports of the attack at Sorrento Beach in the northern suburbs of the WA capital of Perth around 10:15 a.m. local time on Friday.
Local media reported that a man was swimming about 50 meters offshore when he was attacked by a shark described by witnesses as being up to six meters long.
Witnesses said there was blood in the water following the attack.
The beach has been closed to members of the public while authorities search for the missing victim by sea and air.
A man in his 50s was hospitalized with serious injuries on Monday after he was attacked by a shark while surfing near the town of Geraldton, 380 km north of Perth. ■
