JAKARTA, Sept. 16 (Xinhua) -- Indonesia's Ministry of Manpower has allocated 1.7 trillion rupiah (about 96.3 million U.S. dollars) this year to provide vocational training for 270,000 people, with most participants receiving training for jobs in the green economy.
Manpower Minister Yassierli said Wednesday that the funding, sourced from a presidential budget allocation, is aimed at developing a skilled workforce to support Indonesia's transition toward green industries and adapt to changing labor market demands.
"To respond to this massive shift, the Ministry of Manpower is committed to ensuring that domestic industries and workers are not left behind," Yassierli said in Bekasi, West Java province.
He said increasingly stringent environmental requirements concerning energy sources, waste management and raw materials are creating new employment opportunities, including in waste processing and sorting. ■
