ISLAMABAD, Sept. 16 (Xinhua) -- Pakistan's current account deficit narrowed to 98 million U.S. dollars in August, down from 445 million dollars in July and 324 million dollars in August 2025, according to provisional data released by the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) on Wednesday.
Exports of goods and services rose over 5 percent year on year to 3.33 billion dollars in August, while imports rose over 8 percent to 6.64 billion dollars, the data showed.
Workers' remittances rose nearly 17 percent year on year to 3.66 billion dollars during the month.
For the first two months of the 2026-27 fiscal year, the current account deficit stood at 543 million dollars, down 36 percent from 853 million dollars in the same period last year, according to SBP.
Pakistan's foreign exchange reserves rose to 17.28 billion dollars, the central bank said. ■
