KATHMANDU, Sept. 15 (Xinhua) -- Four people were killed and four others injured on Tuesday when a passenger vehicle plunged off a road in central Nepal's Makwanpur district, police said.
The vehicle, carrying eight people including the driver, was en route to Birgunj from Kathmandu when it was involved in the fatal accident at around 2 p.m. local time.
"Four men, including the driver, died at the scene, while four others were injured," Madhav Prasad Kafle, a police official involved in the rescue operation, told Xinhua.
The injured, two men and two women, were rescued and taken to hospitals.
Police, the Armed Police Force, and Nepal Army personnel were mobilized for the rescue operation. Kafle said further investigation into the accident was underway. ■
