ISLAMABAD, Sept. 13 (Xinhua) -- Pakistani security forces killed a highly wanted terrorist during a joint intelligence-based operation in the southern port city of Karachi, officials said on Sunday.
Pakistan Rangers and the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) of the police conducted the joint operation in the Gulbai Sher Shah area following intelligence about the presence of terrorists, a Rangers spokesperson said.
An exchange of fire took place between security forces and terrorists during the operation, in which a highly wanted terrorist was killed, the spokesperson said.
Weapons and explosives were recovered from his possession, according to the Rangers.
The spokesperson said that the terrorist was involved in multiple attacks on camps of the Pakistan Army and the Frontier Corps.
A search operation was launched in the area following the operation, while the recovered weapons and explosives were being further examined. ■
