PHNOM PENH, Sept. 13 (Xinhua) -- Cambodia and Myanmar have pledged to intensify joint efforts to combat cross-border crime and cyber scams, according to a press release from Cambodia's Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation on Sunday.
The announcement followed the conclusion of a state visit by Myanmar President Min Aung Hlaing to Cambodia from Friday to Saturday.
"Recognizing the complex regional challenges posed by transnational crimes, including online scams, the leaders underscored the need to enhance joint efforts in combating these crimes, timely information sharing, strengthen mutual support for prevention and law enforcement, and victim rescue," the press release said.
Both ASEAN member states also agreed to further strengthen bilateral ties and cooperation in various fields to contribute to peace, stability and sustainable development across the region, the press release added. ■
