YANGON, Sept. 11 (Xinhua) -- Myanmar's Shwedagon Pagoda, also known as the Golden Pagoda, attracted over 4.84 million visitors from January to August this year, U Boe Thin, a member of the Shwedagon Pagoda Board of Trustees, told Xinhua on Friday.
That was up from more than 4.65 million a year earlier, he added.
During the period, over 52,000 foreign tourists visited the pagoda, mostly from China and Thailand, he said. ■
