WELLINGTON, Sept. 9 (Xinhua) -- A boy has died after being struck by a train on Wednesday afternoon at a railway station in Auckland, New Zealand's largest city, police said.
Emergency services were in attendance at the incident at the station in Mt Albert, which was reported at 3:28 p.m. local time, according to a police statement.
Passengers on the train said the driver slammed on the brakes after seeing the person, Radio New Zealand reported.
The New Zealand Herald reported that students from Mount Albert Grammar School were in the area and the school's principal was behind the police cordon. Police have not confirmed whether the victim was a student. ■
