MELBOURNE, Sept. 7 (Xinhua) -- A man was fatally shot and two teenagers were stabbed in separate attacks in Melbourne's outer suburbs on Sunday night.
Police in the state of Victoria said in a statement that a man was shot outside a home in Thomastown, 15 km north of central Melbourne, shortly after 7:30 p.m. local time on Sunday.
Emergency services attempted to revive the man, who has not been formally identified, but he was declared deceased at the scene.
No arrests had been made as of Sunday night.
Shortly prior to the shooting, police said two teenage boys were chased and attacked by two others armed with machetes following a verbal altercation around 7:25 p.m. in southeast Melbourne.
Both victims, aged 17 and 15, were taken to hospital with serious non-life-threatening injuries.
Police said they were investigating whether the victims and their attackers were known to each other. ■
