DHAKA, Sept. 7 (Xinhua) -- Bangladesh's foreign exchange reserves reached more than 32 billion U.S. dollars by the end of August this year, according to data from the Bangladesh Bank (BB) on Monday.

The country's foreign exchange reserves stood at 31.60 billion dollars at the end of July. Meanwhile, the gross reserves stood at 37.35 billion dollars by the end of August.

With the existing reserves, BB officials said, Bangladesh is in a position to cover nearly six months of import bills.

Bangladesh's foreign exchange reserves tumbled to roughly 20-21 billion dollars by the end of 2024, official figures showed, down from a peak of 48 billion dollars in August 2021, weighed down by domestic and external macroeconomic headwinds.
