ISLAMABAD, Sept. 6 (Xinhua) -- Pakistan and seven other countries on Sunday strongly rejected attempts to forcibly displace Palestinians from the Gaza Strip, saying that such actions would violate international law and undermine regional stability, according to the Pakistani foreign ministry.
In a statement, the ministry said that the foreign ministers of Pakistan, Egypt, Indonesia, Jordan, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Türkiye and the United Arab Emirates "strongly condemn" statements by Israeli officials regarding the displacement of Palestinians from Gaza.
Proposals to forcibly remove Palestinians from their land "flagrantly violate principles of international law, including international humanitarian law," and threaten the legitimate and inalienable rights of the Palestinian people, said the statement.
They stressed that Gaza is an integral part of the Palestinian territory and called for preserving the unity of Palestinian territory in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank, including East Jerusalem.
Pakistani Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar and his counterparts reaffirmed that the only path toward a just and lasting peace is the implementation of the two-state solution, with the establishment of an independent Palestinian state, with East Jerusalem as its capital.
The ministers also called on the international community to shoulder its responsibilities, firmly oppose attempts to impose a new demographic or geographic reality in the Palestinian territory, and ensure respect for international law. ■
