ISLAMABAD, Sept. 3 (Xinhua) -- Pakistan's trade deficit widened 18.1 percent year on year to 7.12 billion U.S. dollars during the first two months of fiscal year 2026-27, according to data released by the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics on Thursday.
The trade gap stood at 6.03 billion dollars in July-August 2025, the data showed.
Imports rose 13 percent year on year to 12.58 billion dollars during the two-month period, from 11.13 billion dollars a year earlier, while exports increased 7 percent to 5.46 billion dollars from 5.10 billion dollars.
On a month-on-month basis, the trade deficit narrowed 19.7 percent to 3.17 billion dollars in August from 3.95 billion dollars in July. ■
