SYDNEY, Sept. 2 (Xinhua) -- Under the strategic guidance of the leaders of both sides, new achievements have been continually made in building a China-Pacific island countries community with a shared future, China's Special Envoy for Pacific Island Countries Affairs Qian Bo said on Tuesday.
Qian made the remarks at a dialogue between Pacific Islands Forum (PIF) leaders and its dialogue partners in Koror, Palau, as part of the 55th PIF Leaders Meeting, which is being held from Sunday through Friday.
"We appreciate the firm commitment by the vast majority of the PIF members to the one-China principle," Qian said.
China will continue to follow the "four full respects" policy, firmly support each other on core interests, strengthen the alignment of development strategies, focus on the actual needs of Pacific island countries, and promote the in-depth development of the comprehensive strategic partnership between China and Pacific island countries, so as to better benefit the peoples of both sides, the special envoy said.
Qian also outlined China's visions and initiatives to support the Pacific island countries in areas such as advancing their transition towards renewable energy, building a Blue Partnership with China, and expanding trade and investment cooperation.
On the sidelines of the PIF meetings, Qian also met separately with leaders and political figures from Pacific island countries that have established diplomatic relations with China.
Chinese Ambassador to the Federated States of Micronesia Wu Wei attended the dialogue. ■
