TOKYO, Aug. 28 (Xinhua) -- Toyota Motor Corp. said Friday its global sales and production in July fell from a year earlier, marking the first decline in two months.
Global sales fell 4.8 percent from a year earlier to 856,125 vehicles, while global production dropped 2.1 percent to 828,629 vehicles, according to the world's largest automaker by volume.
Toyota's overseas sales slipped 7.6 percent to 706,028 cars. Sales in China fell 24.3 percent, marking a sixth consecutive monthly decline, while U.S. sales slipped 0.8 percent and Middle East sales plunged 44.5 percent.
Sales in Japan, however, rose 11 percent to 150,097 units, helped by sales of new models.
Toyota's overseas output fell 9.8 percent to 500,472 vehicles, down for the third consecutive month, while production in Japan climbed 12.4 percent to 328,157 vehicles. ■
