SINGAPORE, Aug. 28 (Xinhua) -- Singapore and Brazil have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to establish the Singapore-Brazil Green and Digital Shipping Corridor (GDSC), strengthening cooperation on maritime decarbonization and digitalization, the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) said on Friday.

The partnership aims to support more sustainable and efficient international shipping by leveraging the complementary strengths of both countries, the MPA said in a statement.

Brazil's significant renewable energy resources and production capabilities could support the development of zero- and near-zero greenhouse gas emission marine fuels, while Singapore, the world's largest bunkering port and a leading global hub port, offers a vibrant maritime innovation ecosystem.

Under the MoU, the two countries will explore digital information exchanges to enhance maritime and port operations.

Singapore and Brazil will also work with industry players to advance the research, development and adoption of emerging maritime technologies and solutions, according to the statement.
