Philippine authorities seize 1.1 bln pesos in illegal drugs in July

MANILA, Aug. 28 (Xinhua) -- Philippine government agencies seized illegal drugs worth 1.1 billion pesos (about 18 million U.S. dollars) in July, the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) said on Friday.

The PDEA, in coordination with other law enforcement agencies, conducted 3,572 anti-drug operations nationwide during the month and arrested 4,426 drug suspects, dismantling 39 illegal drug facilities.

Seized items included 201.89 kilograms of methamphetamine, 0.34 kg of cocaine, 1,307 ecstasy pills and 63.11 kg of dried marijuana, according to the PDEA.

Since July 2022, Philippine authorities have seized a total of 122.53 billion pesos worth of narcotics, arrested more than 206,000 persons and cleared 30,186 villages of drugs under the Marcos administration, the PDEA said.
