KABUL, Aug. 27 (Xinhua) -- Police have seized 218 kg of narcotics, including 101 kg of opium type illicit drugs, from two cars and taken into custody two smugglers in Ghor province, western Afghanistan, a statement from the Ministry of Interior Affairs said on Thursday.
"The Counter-Narcotics police forces of the Ghor provincial police command arrested one smuggler in the provincial capital Firoz Koah city and seized 101 kg of opium. In a separate operation, police also discovered 117 kg of fentanyl type (F) from a car and arrested another smuggler," the statement posted on the ministry's social platform X (formerly Twitter) asserted.
Without giving more details, the statement noted that the counter-narcotics police would do their best to combat drug production and its trafficking until the once-poppy-growing nation becomes free of the drug menace. ■
