SEOUL, Aug. 27 (Xinhua) -- South Korea's real wages, adjusted for inflation, fell for a third consecutive month in June as price gains outpaced pay, labor ministry data showed Thursday.
The average nominal monthly wage per employee at businesses with one or more regular workers rose 3.1 percent from a year earlier to 4,094,000 won (about 2,963 U.S. dollars) in June, according to the Ministry of Employment and Labor.
The real monthly wage slipped 0.1 percent year on year in June, after falling 1 percent in April and 1.4 percent in May.
Consumer price inflation accelerated from 2 percent in February to 2.2 percent in March, 2.6 percent in April, 3.1 percent in May and 3.2 percent in June, staying above the central bank's target of 2 percent.
Average monthly working hours per employee rose 7.1 percent from a year earlier to 157.6. The manufacturing sector logged the longest monthly working hours of 175.2. ■
