CANBERRA, Aug. 27 (Xinhua) -- One person has died, and two others have been hospitalized with serious injuries after a group of cyclists were hit by a car in the Australian capital of Canberra on Thursday morning.
The police force in the Australian Capital Territory (ACT) said that a car collided with three cyclists in the northern suburbs of Canberra around 6:30 a.m. local time.
One of the cyclists died at the scene, and the other two were taken to hospital, with one in a critical condition and the other in a serious condition.
Police officers, ambulance paramedics and fire and rescue crews were all deployed to the scene.
The road where the crash occurred has been closed, and members of the public have been asked to avoid the area. ■
