JAKARTA, Aug. 27 (Xinhua) -- A key committee of Indonesia's House of Representatives on Thursday endorsed Destry Damayanti as the country's next central bank governor for a five-year term.
Destry, currently Bank Indonesia's senior deputy governor and acting governor, was the sole candidate nominated by President Prabowo Subianto.
"Destry Damayanti has been selected as governor of Bank Indonesia for the 2026-2031 term," Commission XI Chairman Mukhamad Misbakhun told reporters.
The commission also selected Aida S. Budiman as senior deputy governor and Solikin M. Juhro as deputy governor, both for the 2026-2031 term.
The appointments are expected to be formally approved at a plenary session of the House of Representatives on Sept. 1.
Destry has served as acting central banker since Perry Warjiyo resigned last month. ■
