Pilot, co-pilot dead as trainee aircraft crashes in N. India

NEW DELHI, Aug. 27 (Xinhua) -- A pilot and a co-pilot died when the private trainee aircraft they were flying crashed in India's northern state of Uttar Pradesh on Thursday, confirmed the local police.

The incident was reported from the state's Kanpur district.

The twin-engine aircraft belonged to a private company "Garg Aviation" that operated a flying-training school. It reportedly took off at 11:30 a.m. local time and crashed 20 minutes later.

The cause of the crash was yet to be ascertained.
