TOKYO, Aug. 25 (Xinhua) -- Four luxury watches worth around 200 million yen (about 1.26 million U.S. dollars) were stolen Tuesday from a store in a popular shopping complex in Tokyo, local media reported.
A security firm notified police of the theft shortly before noon, saying that someone had destroyed a showcase in the Nakano Broadway complex and made off with some of the items inside, Kyodo News reported.
At least one person, wearing a black mask and sunglasses, used a hammer to smash the display case located near the shop's entrance and fled on an electric scooter, the report said.
The robbery took place when the shop was open. None of the five staff who were inside were injured, it added.
The perpetrator was reportedly in the store only for about 10 seconds and fled with another man, said the police, adding that they are looking for the two individuals. ■
