KABUL, Aug. 24 (Xinhua) -- The Afghan government has formally approved 21 major infrastructure and development projects valued at 6.5 billion afghanis (around 99.28 million U.S. dollars), the office of the Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs announced late Sunday.

These projects span vital sectors, including the rehabilitation of a hydropower dam, the acquisition of advanced scanners for customs operations at multiple airports, the construction of general hospitals, and the expansion of electricity transmission and distribution networks, according to a statement issued by the office.

All initiatives will be financed exclusively through the Afghan government's domestic budget.

Officials emphasized that the approved projects are poised to strengthen public services and create substantial employment opportunities for local communities, supporting the nation's gradual recovery from decades of conflict and economic adversity.

The decision highlights the government's resolute commitment to reconstructing war-ravaged infrastructure and driving sustainable economic revitalization through self-financed development programs.
