TASHKENT, Aug. 23 (Xinhua) -- Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev and visiting Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev signed the Treaty on Eternal Friendship between the two countries in Tashkent on Sunday, according to the press service of the Uzbek president.
Mirziyoyev characterized Aliyev's visit as a historic moment, noting that the Treaty of Eternal Friendship reflects the two countries' desire to deepen cooperation, expand opportunities for partnership, and build a common future.
According to the Uzbek president website, the two sides signed and exchanged a range of documents, including a program to boost bilateral trade to 1 billion U.S. dollars by 2030, an action plan to implement trade and investment agreements, and a cooperation program between their respective foreign ministries for 2027-2028.
At the invitation of Mirziyoyev, Aliyev is paying a state visit to Uzbekistan on Aug. 23-24. ■
