MELBOURNE, Aug. 24 (Xinhua) -- A woman has died and two other people have been hospitalized after a car crashed into a cafe at an eastern Melbourne shopping center on Monday afternoon.
A police statement said that emergency services were called to the crash at a shopping center in Wantirna South, 25 km east of central Melbourne, around 12:45 p.m. on Monday.
A female patron who was seated outside the premises died at the scene.
The driver and passenger of the vehicle were transported to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Police said that a second cafe patron was assessed at the scene by ambulance paramedics.
A crime scene has been established, and detectives from the Major Collision Investigation Unit are investigating the incident.
"Police do not believe the incident was an intentional act," the statement said.
