KABUL, Aug. 23 (Xinhua) -- The Afghan government has distributed humanitarian assistance valued at 2.612 million U.S. dollars to 31,320 returnees and internally displaced families over the past month, the Ministry of Refugees and Repatriation said in a statement on Sunday.
The comprehensive aid package covered cash grants, food and non-food items, healthcare services, construction and rehabilitation of shelters, documentation support, and employment opportunities, according to the statement.
These efforts were implemented across 25 out of the country's 34 provinces.
In a further measure to facilitate reintegration, authorities have allocated more than 60,000 land plots nationwide to returning refugees.
The ministry's data indicate that over 8.1 million Afghan refugees have returned to their homeland since the current administration assumed power in August 2021. ■
