KATHMANDU, Aug. 21 (Xinhua) -- A delegation of the China Society for Human Rights Studies visited Nepal from Tuesday to Friday.

The delegation was led by Jiang Jianguo, a member of the Standing Committee of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), vice director of the Committee for Ethnic and Religious Affairs of the CPPCC National Committee, and executive vice president of the China Society for Human Rights Studies.

During the visit, Jiang delivered a speech at the "Xizang Panorama: New Era, New Development" story-sharing forum, and held separate meetings with Amrit Bahadur Rai, Nepal's foreign secretary, and Top Bahadur Magar, chairperson of Nepal's National Human Rights Commission, among other local figures.

The delegation made an in-depth introduction of Chinese President Xi Jinping's important discourses on respecting and protecting human rights, his deep care for the people of Xizang and the great importance he attaches to Xizang's development.

The delegation systematically expounded the profound connotations of the contemporary Chinese perspective of human rights, comprehensively introduced China's path of human rights development, and vividly presented the historic achievements made in Xizang under the guidance of the CPC policies on the governance of Xizang in the new era.

The delegation also held discussions with the Nepalese side on conducting bilateral human rights exchanges, strengthening bilateral human rights cooperation, and jointly promoting the development of human rights worldwide.

Representatives from all sectors of the Nepalese society spoke highly of China's achievements in human rights development, believing that strengthening bilateral human rights exchanges and cooperation is conducive to enhancing the well-being of the peoples of both countries.

They noted that the new Xizang, which respects its own cultural traditions while actively protecting the natural environment in the process of modernization, offers great inspirations for Nepal's development.

Rai said that China has successfully blazed a trail of human rights development suited to its national conditions, providing Nepal with rich experience and inspiration.

Sushil Pyakurel, first commissioner of Nepal's National Human Rights Commission, said that the National Human Rights Action Plan of China (2026-2030) not only focuses on the domestic implementation to safeguard its people's right to development, but also commits to fulfilling international obligations and promoting the building of a community with a shared future for humanity, which will surely have a positive impact on global human rights governance.
