Tajikistan's foreign trade turnover rises 42.3 pct in Jan.-July

DUSHANBE, Aug. 21 (Xinhua) -- Tajikistan's foreign trade turnover reached 7.94 billion U.S. dollars in the first seven months of 2026, up 42.3 percent year over year, the country's Agency on Statistics said Friday.

During the period, exports increased 57.2 percent year on year to 1.78 billion dollars, while imports rose 38.6 percent to 6.16 billion dollars, resulting in a foreign trade deficit of 4.38 billion dollars.

Exports of precious and semi-precious stones and metals recorded the most significant growth, surging more than 160-fold year on year to 519 million dollars.

Major import categories included machinery and equipment, valued at 903.5 million dollars; mineral products, 870.8 million dollars; base metals and articles thereof, 798 million dollars; and vehicles and spare parts, 771 million dollars.

China remained Tajikistan's largest trading partner in the first seven months, followed by Russia, Switzerland Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan.
