SEOUL, Aug. 21 (Xinhua) -- Foreign investors extended their selling spree in the South Korean stock market to seven straight months while maintaining net inflows into domestic bonds for four consecutive months, financial watchdog data showed Friday.
Offshore investors dumped a net 31.66 trillion won (22.9 billion U.S. dollars) worth of domestic listed stocks in July, according to the Financial Supervisory Service (FSS).
It was down from the net sales of 49.34 trillion won in the previous month, but foreigners continued to sell off local stocks since January.
Foreigners remained net sellers in both the main KOSPI and the tech-heavy KOSDAQ markets.
Foreign holdings of local stocks totaled 2,255.5 trillion won at the end of July, taking up 35.8 percent of the total market capitalization.
Meanwhile, the domestic bond market saw net foreign inflows for the fourth successive month.
Overseas investors snapped up a net 4.77 trillion won worth of local listed bonds in July.
With the maturing debts worth 2.38 trillion won, the foreign net investment in the domestic bond market reached 2.39 trillion won.
The foreign ownership of domestic listed bonds stood at 336.1 trillion won at the end of July, accounting for 11.7 percent of all listed bonds in the country. ■
