TOKYO, Aug. 21 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo stocks ended mixed Friday, with ongoing Middle East uncertainties and a rebound in U.S. bond yields weighing on sentiment, though buying in shares seen as beneficiaries of the situation helped limit the downside.

The benchmark 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average ended down 200.43 points, or 0.30 percent, from Thursday at 66,016.36.

The broader Topix index, meanwhile, finished 7.56 points, or 0.19 percent, higher at 4,067.29.

Stocks came under selling pressure on concerns over oil supplies and inflation amid rising uncertainty over the Middle East conflict. Some investors also opted to book profits ahead of the weekend, analysts said.

Losses narrowed in the afternoon, with the Topix index turning positive as gains in some heavyweight technology shares helped drive a rebound. Marine transportation and financial issues also attracted buying, with the former supported by expectations of rising tanker freight rates and the latter by higher bond yields.
