ISLAMABAD, Aug. 21 (Xinhua) -- Pakistani security forces, in coordination with police, have killed 49 terrorists in a series of intelligence-based operations in the country over the past few days, the military said Friday.
According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), a total of 12 terrorists were killed in operations in various districts of the country's northwest Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, while 37 others were eliminated in 10 operations in southwest Balochistan.
The ISPR said weapons, ammunition, explosives, improvised explosive device components, remote detonators and motorcycles were recovered during the operations.
Sanitization operations are continuing in the affected areas to eliminate any remaining terrorists, the statement said, adding that the counter-terrorism campaign would continue to dismantle terrorist networks and maintain peace and stability in the country. ■
