TASHKENT, Aug. 21 (Xinhua) -- A China-supported wind power project was completed Thursday in the Tashkent region's Bostanlyk district in Uzbekistan.

Addressing the completion ceremony, Chinese Ambassador to Uzbekistan Yu Jun noted that the project will boost local clean energy supply, optimize the energy mix, and advance Uzbekistan's green transition.

The project aligns closely with Uzbekistan's strategic goal of low-carbon development and is a concrete outcome of bilateral green energy cooperation, said Yu, voicing hope that both sides would take this opportunity to further expand collaboration in renewable energy, energy storage, and power grid infrastructure.

Bostanlyk District Governor Axmedov Jo'rabek commended the Chinese construction team for overcoming difficulties and completing the project smoothly with exceptional technical expertise. He said the project will deliver a stable and long-term supply of clean energy to fuel local economic growth and sustainable development.

With a total installed capacity of 20 megawatts across four 5-megawatt wind turbines, the project was completed within 12 months. Upon full operation, it is expected to power tens of thousands of local households, save roughly 12 million cubic meters of natural gas, and cut carbon dioxide emissions by about 24,000 tons per year.
