SINGAPORE, Aug. 21 (Xinhua) -- Scam messages impersonating courier delivery companies have resulted in about 2.2 million Singapore dollars (1.73 million U.S. dollars) in losses in Singapore, police said on Thursday.
The Singapore Police Force said in a statement that the losses were up from 1.2 million Singapore dollars reported in its earlier release on Aug. 5.
"The police have observed a surge in scams exploiting Apple iMessage," it said.
According to the police, since June 2026, the Cyber Command has detected and disrupted more than 30,000 iMessage accounts linked to the scam campaign. ■
