India's forex reserves rise by over 9.9 bln USD in a week

NEW DELHI, Aug. 21 (Xinhua) -- India's forex reserves increased by 9.905 billion U.S. dollars to 716.907 billion U.S. dollars during the week ended Aug. 14, according to the weekly supplement released by the country's central bank, the Reserve Bank of India (RBI), on Friday.

This was the third consecutive week when India's forex reserves had increased.

According to the RBI's bulletin, the foreign currency assets (FCAs) increased by 7.225 billion U.S. dollars to 581.851 billion U.S. dollars, while the gold reserves rose by 2.679 billion U.S. dollars to 111.417 billion U.S. dollars.

The Special Drawing Rights fell by 5 million U.S. dollars to 18.74 billion U.S. dollars, while India's position in the International Monetary Fund improved by 5 million U.S. dollars to 4.899 billion U.S. dollars.
